When I hit my 40's I felt like a switch had been flipped - suddenly I was less resilient and finding it difficult to cope with life's challenges. On top of that it was becoming increasingly tricky to maintain my shape. It didn't matter what I did, I couldn't lose weight and keep it off. I became a professional calorie counter and was so controlling about what I ate that I lost the ability to enjoy & feel free around food. It's fair to say that my approach to nutrition was completely unbalanced and as a consequence I felt dreadful. I was bent out of shape on every level, scared of my own shadow - anxious & irritable - not to mention consistently bloated. My appetite was out of control and cravings ruled my day. Something had to change and that's when I found Nutritional Therapy.
A decade later and I’m a passionate believer that what we eat and how we live our lives are the two most important factors that affect our health. I know how to guide you back to balance in small simple sustainable steps - but just in case you think I am a Nutrition Goddess who lives on green smoothies and flows through life without a crisp packet in sight – let me just put you straight right at the beginning. I’m a normal everyday person who gets knocked off track just like everyone. And as a working mum of 3 kids I know how hard it is to to keep on track with a healthy eating regime whilst trying to juggle my family’s needs and my own.
With this in mind, my mission when working with clients is to prepare tailored nutrition plans that are based on real food, are simple to prepare, fill you up, fit in with a busy family life and can be implemented without you feeling overwhelmed – so
no I won't be asking you to make your own nut milk - promise!
MY Approach
My approach is not about overhauling what you eat to diet perfection – but finding real foods that you can enjoy which are balanced to support your specific biochemistry. We are all unique and have different constitutions and there is no easy standard formula to follow. This is where the Nutritional Therapy part comes in and that’s why my plans are personalised to meet your individual needs. We work together to find small consistent changes which are easy to implement, do not overwhelm and are sustainable for YOU. And I don't just send you off with a nutrition plan and wish you good luck. I stay with you, cheer you on every step of the way and help you find strategies to keep your motivation button switched on.
The guiding principles at the heart of my approach are to design simple personalised plans that avoid overwhelm, are underpinned by scientific expertise and shared with care & compassion.
